There are many aspects to my personality but when I describe myself, two main front runners usually emerge: I’m a mom and I’m creative. That’s why it made perfect sense for me to share this Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms! I absolutely love using these 10 Cricut products with and for my children.
Is it everything I’ve ever used? Absolutely not. I wanted this gift guide to include my most used and favorite Cricut products for kid projects. I hope you see something (or everything!) you absolutely need.
Also, this gift guide is totally not exclusive to moms! I know plenty of dads and other caregivers that would rock any of these products.
Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms
The number one question I get asked about Cricut is which of the machines someone should buy. My answer is always two fold: what is your budget and what are you planning on making? If you plan on making mostly t-shirts, totes, paper cards, felt decorations…the Cricut Explore Air 2 is the machine for you!
As a busy mom of three kids, I find that I can use the Cricut Explore Air 2 for probably 95% of my projects that I make with my kids. Don’t get me wrong, love the Maker too but if you’re on a budget (and what parent isn’t?!) and have to decide, the Cricut Explore Air 2 is a solid choice!
If you’re planning on using iron-on vinyl for your kids, the Cricut EasyPress™ 2 is a necessity! There are four different sizes to choose from. I love this size because it’s large enough to cover vinyl cutouts for my kids’ t-shirts but doesn’t take up a ton of space on my shelf.
It’s great for onesies, backpacks, and kids sweatshirts. In a pinch, it can even iron shirts for picture day!
Here’s what’s going to happen when you decide to buy a Cricut EasyPress™ 2…you’re going to take a look at the mats and then figure you’ll be ok with just some towels. I get it! We’re all trying to save money for our kids college tuition.
Here’s the thing, though. Our lives are so busy that sometimes just looking for a clean towel will dissuade us from crafting. Get the mat, store it with your EasyPress, and you’ll be ready when inspiration strikes!
The one thing all parents have in common is that their kids’ clothes never last long! I swear my kids are so rough with their clothes. That’s why the Cricut Infusible Ink™ is so great for kids t-shirts. They can stretch it, pull it, wrap it over their knees and because the ink in infused right into the fabric, the t-shirt won’t get destroyed.
Now if only Cricut would work on getting their rooms clean!
If you’re using Infusible Ink™ , you’re definitely going to want to pick up some Infusible Ink blanks to customize with your kids! They are the perfect blend of cotton/poly to work with the transfer paper and markers.
We always keep some on hand for when creativity strikes!
Of all the products listed in this Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms, these Infusible Ink™ Markers and Pens will be your child’s favorite. Having their original artwork on a t-shirt is like magic to them!
If you child is smaller, you can use your Cricut Explore Air 2 to draw out a Design Space image with the Infusible Ink black marker on laser printer paper. Then hand the design over to your kid and let them go to town coloring it in!
Older children can actually draw their original artwork straight onto the laser printer paper and then transfer it to t-shirt to have an almost instant work of art. They’re going to love it!
If vinyl iron-on is more your jam, the SportFlex Iron-On is a must when it comes to kids clothing! As I mentioned above, we all know that kids can be pretty rough with their clothing. Hello, Cornholio?!
The SportFlex Iron-On is thin and flexible enough to stretch on even the most active of clothing. Works great on polyester and nylon!
I don’t know about you guys but my kids are absolutely crazy about all things Disney! Seriously, 90% of our conversations seem to revolve around either Disney, Star Wars, or Marvel. It’s no surprise that #7 on my Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms is the awesome licensed vinyl, iron-on, and paper!
Ok, stick with me because this is probably the most unusual item in my Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms. The Cricut BrightPad™ is, of course, super handy when I’m weeding out super complicated and intricate designs but that’s not why it’s on the list. It’s a great tool for kids as well!
My older boys love to draw and are always using the BrightPad as a light table to copy existing designs onto new paper. The different levels of brightness can shine through even the thickest of papers!
My favorite use for the BrightPad is for my 2 year old daughter though! Toddler light tables are tons of fun to play with but are costly and can take up tons of space. The BrightPad is a perfect space-saving and cost-effective option! Make sure to check out my free Children’s Play X-Ray files. My kids loved to play pretend doctor with them!
Hint: Buy a large acrylic box frame to protect your BrightPad while your kids enjoy it. It’ll save you tons of stress, I promise!
I saved my favorite suggestion for last! Other than the actual cutting machine, a yearly subscription to Cricut Access is probably the most essential piece for busy parents. With over 100,000 premium cut-ready images and fonts, you’re sure to find the perfect project for almost any occasion.
Again, as parents, I know we have so little free time that when we decide to spend it crafting (even if it’s for the kids still!), we need everything to work well from the beginning. Cricut Access makes the experience from beginning to end so easy!
Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms (and everyone else!)
I hope you enjoyed this Cricut Gift Guide for Crafty Moms! I’m going completely honest when I tell you that I love each and every single one of these products that I recommended. They really make the Cricut experience with kids so much fun!
