Introducing Maker Tools

Before we get started, let’s talk about the Cricut Maker for a bit. In addition to all the amazing things it could do before (cut a variety of materials like leather, chipboard, and wood), there is now a new line of Maker Tools that can do so much more. I’ll actually be going into more detail on these tools next week but for now, let’s play with the Debossing Tool!

Using the Debossing Tool is crazy easy thanks to the Adaptive Tool System! Once you insert it into the B side of your Cricut Maker, just find an image you want to deboss from Design Space. I went with a pretty flower mandala. Now all you need to finish the project is a sheet of Cricut Genuine Leather and you’re good to go!

Supplies needed to make a Mandala Debossed Leather Bookmark (Design Space file, Debossing Tool, and Leather)

Deboss Like A Boss

Setting up your Cricut Maker to emboss and cut leather is super easy as long as you remember a couple things. First, you’ll need to push all the white star wheels on the roller to the right. Next, make sure to trim the leather piece so that none of the material touches the star wheels. Place the leather on a StrongGrip mat and then insert into the machine to deboss.

Once the debossing portion of this project is done, the machine will tell you to switch out to the Deep-Point Blade and will continue cutting out the Mandala Debossed Leather Bookmarks.

I absolutely love how subtle the debossed mandala looks on this leather bookmark! Books are seriously the BEST gifts and when paired with this bookmark, even better. The next time I make this I’m totally going to add the gift recipient’s initials with gold foil!
