I made this Playtime Rules for Adults Wall Hanging for Vinyl Palooza sponsored by Expressions Vinyl. Make sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for the fabulous giveaway!
I don’t know about you guys but sometimes I feel like the amazing phone in my pocket that can organize my taxes, connect with family on the other side of the globe, and give me endless amounts of cat videos, is also the reason we’ve had to make this Playtime Rules for Adults Wall Hanging. It’s a constant distraction from the things that matter most in life!
Real Life Disclaimer: You can clearly see how dirty my windows are. For some reason, my kids enjoy throwing wet sand at them and I’m obviously too busy playing on my phone to stop them. (Just kidding. I just haven’t gotten around to Spring Cleaning. Maybe next year!)
No Luddites Here
Don’t get me wrong, I love the convenience of modern day technology, I really do. How great is it that we alway have it nearby to capture those sweet little moments while raising children? Unfortunately, it’s exactly those sweet little moments I’m finding myself distracted from. That’s why when I saw Growing Play’s Rules for Adults, I knew I had to make a version for our playroom!

So Many Choices
As long as you got a digital cutting machine (I use a Silhouette Cameo), this project is super easy. I’ve used tons of vinyl from different brands and I’ve got to be honest, some of it has made me want to pitch a fit to rival my three year old! Seriously, if you’ve been having a tough time with your vinyl projects lately, look into switching suppliers. It’ll make a huge difference!
I Heart Expressions Vinyl!
Even before I was offered this campaign, I was a long-time fan of the quality of Expressions Vinyl. I don’t know enough about the science of vinyl or polymers but their products just work! Which is so important when you’re a procrastinator and you often find yourself making fun t-shirts for your son’s spirit day the morning of spirit day. (Completely hypothetical, of course. I would never do that.) I used EV’s Permanent Outdoor Basic Pack for this project. Might be an overkill but since I plan to hang this in a window, I want to make sure the vinyl could withstand the strong UV rays of the desert southwest sun!
Transferring the vinyl letters to my 16×18 floating frame was almost complication free (which is kinda a miracle when working with vinyl!) I just used the frame to lay-out all my pieces first and then used Expressions Vinyl Paper Transfer Tape to move them to the inside glass panel. You, of course, don’t have to use a floating frame if you don’t want to (“I do what I want!”) but since I was planning on hanging this in my playroom window, the openness of the floating frame was perfect.

Love your project. Is there anyway you could put up a copy of the file in ver 2 of Sil Studio? I can’t upgrade since my laptop is XP. Thanks!
