As a crafter, you know that sometimes you make things that are really useful and serve a particular need. For example, my Easy Sewing Machine Cover that I posted last week. Pretty, yes, but also very practical and necessary. These Harry Potter XL Clothespins? Not so much. I guess you could use them as picture displays or to hold menu cards during a party but more than likely they’ll end up making me smile just standing on my desk. They may not serve a particular purpose but they’re just so stinking cute it doesn’t matter!

Making Harry
Making these Harry Potter XL Clothespins only requires a couple supplies and depending on your painting skills and the amount of clothespins you’re making, can easily be finished in one sitting. I got my large clothespins online (here’s a 5″ and 12″ version) and used various Americana® Acrylic Paint 2 Oz to add the detail. I penciled in the faces first and then applied a single coat of Natural Buff paint so that I could just barely see the pencil lines.
Finishing In Style
After finishing the faces, all that’s left to do is add the scarf and black paint for the robe. The scarves bump right up to the hair and go around the entire “neck” (like scarves do!) You can add detail to the robes if you’d like or even just paint the sides and back black and give them a collared uniform in the front. I even thought about adding chalkboard paint so that each clothespin could be labeled.
Accio Clothespins
And there you have it, Harry Potter XL Clothespins! Totally impractical and adorable in everyway. They’re already looking down at me from above my desk and I seriously love them so much, who cares if they’re purely decorative. Hope you enjoy making a few for your favorite Potterhead (which might be yourself!) and please let me know if you think of a purpose for them!

I am over here jumping up and down. I Loooovvveee Harry Potter. I am a big Potterhead. I am so excited about the chance to actually be able to add to my addiction. What isn’t too love about the series? I have always loved to read but when saw the first movie I was instantly hooked. I had to rush and buy the books. i have read the series about 5 times and I am fixing to read it again. I love HP!

Awesome idea, these are absolutely adorable!
A suggested use could be making them smaller and using them for a “Free Dobby” sock hanger (for socks missing their partner – you might’ve seen them around) 😀
