I’ve been thinking of making this Family Time Cell Phone Box for quite a while. I have a horrible habit of defaulting to my cell phone to update social media for this blog whenever I have a little down time but, unfortunately, that means my kids are growing up watching their mother’s face plastered to her cell phone. It’s not healthy for me and it’s definitely not a habit I want to instill in my children. I made this Family Time Cell Phone Box to be a visual representation of my desire to cut back on phone use. I really think that having my phone in this box and having to actively decide to open it will help me break the habit!

Family Time Cell Phone Box
Materials:
- Small case (I found mine at Target but linked to something similar)
- Free “Family Time Cell Phone Box” Cut File
- Cricut Cutting Machine
- Permanent Vinyl
Step 1. Use your cutting machine to cut the free “Family Time Cell Phone Box” file. It’s an SVG file so you should be able to use it with any brand of cutting machine.
Step 2. Once vinyl is cut, weed off excess.
Step 3. Use transfer tape to combine both the words and cell phone cut out.
Step 4. Stick everything to the top of the acrylic drawer and press.
Step 5. Oops, don’t forget the cute little heart!
Step 6. Place your Family Time Cell Phone Box in a central location so that you can easily put it away when trying to focus on family.
It’s funny how the easiest of projects can sometimes be the most important, right? I’ll come back to this post in a couple weeks to give you an update on if this Family Time Cell Phone Box helped recenter my attention on what I truly should be focusing on throughout the day…my kids! Let me know if you end up making this project, I’d love to hear if it worked for you too!
