I used JOHNSON’S® to make this Almost Instant Play Dough as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #johnsonspartners #SoMuchMore
Let me just tell you, over the last few years, we’ve gone through almost every play dough recipe you can find with a google search. In the microwave, on the stove, with glitter, neon food dye…we’ve done it all! So really, it was only a matter of time before we start experimenting with just mixing ingredients at home and seeing what happens. Some things were absolute disasters but some things, like this Almost Instant Play Dough, totally worked and kept my boys entertained for at least 30 minutes (which is a lifetime in boy-talk!)
Mix It Up
As I mentioned above, making this super easy Almost Instant Play Dough only requires two materials that you probably have at your house, cornstarch and JOHNSON’S® baby bubble bath and that’s it. Seriously. Crazy easy, right? Just mix the two together until you reach a consistency that you’re happy with and give to your child to play. I started with a ratio of 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part bubble bath. Add more cornstarch if the dough is too goopy and more liquid if it’s too crumbly (although both are totally fun too!)
Tips & Tricks
You can either leave it plain or add some color with food dye. A word to the wise, unless you want your hands to be multicolored for days I highly suggest you use vinyl gloves when mixing in the food coloring. Also, because cornstarch has been known to clog drains, you might want to have the kids play with this outdoors so that you can clean up any mess with just a water hose.
Sensory Enrichment
One of my favorite things about this Almost Instant Play Dough is that it’s totally perfect as a sensory enriching activity. In one fell swoop your child will be manipulating the dough through touch, smelling the bubble bath fragrance, and seeing how the colors mix together. Three out of the five senses isn’t too bad!

Bubble Baths Rock
After the kids were done playing with the dough, we continued with the experimenting and allowed them to add water to the containers. They loved squeezing their fingers and toes in the goo and got thoroughly messy. Good thing Papa was ready to go with JOHNSON’S® baby bubble bath! He’s the primary bather in our house (like in 54% of all households) and totally enjoys the quality time with the boys. I love that my husband really gets that baths are a great time to work on great skills like hand/eye coordination while bonding and making memories.
