Getting Personal
I know you’re use to creative tutorials on Tried & True but can I just take a moment and get personal with you all? Father’s Day is just around the corner and I can’t help but get a little emotional about how great my husband is as a father, husband, and friend. As some of you know, my son was diagnosed with epilepsy last year and through it all Jim was there to comfort and cry with me. Finding out that your child has a condition is never easy and honestly, I would wish it away in a second but if there’s one good thing that comes from this bumpy journey, it’s knowing that I’m traveling it with my best friend.
Meet Jim
Almost the second I met Jim I fell head over heals for him. He was handsome and funny and quite possibly the nicest person I’d ever met. And when I found out he was extremely talented creatively? Well, I definitely wasn’t going to let that go! The thing is, all those traits that drew me to him so long ago (15 years this November!) are the same things that make kids go crazy over him. That kindness that I was so drawn to? Kids totally pick up on that. And as soon as they figure out he can draw like nobody’s business? Let’s just say he’s always the coolest adult in the room!
The Natural
Being a father is just second nature to my husband. I can’t tell you the number of times that I’ve researched different parenting techniques to help with a challenging situation only to find that he’s come up with the perfect solution. He thinks with his heart and because of that his first response is always love. Love for our children and love for me. I could spend a lifetime trying to be half the person he is but instead I think I’ll just love him for the entirety of mine.
Happy Father’s Day, My Love. You are, indeed, #DoinGood!
Thank you for allowing me to share these personal thoughts with you, dear reader! Sometimes life gets so busy we forget to tell the people we love just how much we appreciate them. Please consider telling other dads out there that they’re #DoinGood by sharing this video with them!
