One of the hardest parts about becoming a parent was learning to ignore the mental picture of what I thought motherhood should look like. Blame it on the Huxtables, the internet, or my own personal insecurities; I had a vivid image of my life after kids and it definitely did not include bedwetting. Lucky for us, there are tools we can use to help! Thank you to GoodNites® for sponsoring this open discussion on parenting, expectations, and remembering that “This Too Shall Pass.”
Did you know that one in six children ages 4-12 suffer from nocturnal enuresis (fancy word for bedwetting) and that it is a medical condition that a child cannot control or be trained out of? What is an inconvenience to parents can be devastating to a child and in fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics has shown that bedwetting psychologically impacts children and the recreational choices they make. As frustrating as it may be, bedwetting is one of those childhood events you just have to wait out and get to a place where it doesn’t upset you every time you wake up to wet bed sheets. (Easier than it sounds, right?!)
If you’re a frequent reader of my blog, you know that I’m a huge fan of using coloring pages to relax and work through many of life’s most challenging moments. There’s just something about grabbing a handful markers and an inspirational coloring page that helps you take a deep breath and calm down (so important when you’re a parent!) I’ve created a new coloring page, This Too Shall Pass, specifically with parents in mind and hope it helps during those “Crazy Mama” moments!

Another great way to work through the trials of nocturnal enuresis is to make sure you’ve got the right tools in your tool belt. Lucky for us, GoodNites® has just released a line of machine-washable underwear that includes disposable, absorbent inserts that will help keep your child and sheets dry through the night. GoodNites* TRU-FIT* are 100% real fabric underwear that won’t embarrass an older child and can still be thrown in the wash when needed! Brilliant, right?
So, whether you’re at the beginning, middle, or end of this journey of parenting and/or bedwetting, just know that you’re not alone and that “this too shall pass.” Join the GoodNites* TRU-FIT* #TRUFITTARGET Twitter Party taking place Wednesday, November 19 from 8:00 – 9:00AM PST / 11:00 AM – 12:00PM EST to swap hints and stories with other parents going through the exact same thing.

Hello Vanessa,
I have zero drawing talent and am so pleased to have this coloring sheet. I am the mother of 7 children/young adults and use this phrase soooo often. When they come to me with a problem or concern, I often conclude our conversation with…”this Too Shall Pass”, I plan to color a copy for each so they have a physical reminder to have on hand. Thank you for your talents
Penny
