My kids are a little older and are mostly good with their bedtime routine but even now and then, they still give me some resistance. I don’t know how many times they’ve asked me if they have to brush their teeth tonight. “Um, yes, we brush our teeth EVERY night!” I created this Bedtime Bingo card to help facilitate the habits necessary to a peaceful bedtime routine and thought some of you might find it useful!
How To Play
Bedtime Bingo is played pretty much the same way as normal bingo, just mark off a square every time an action is completed. I’m going to let you in on a little secret, parent to parent…this bingo card is totally rigged to allow you full control over the game. I purposely chose words over pictures so that parents would have to read the squares out loud to their young children and mentally choose which activities had to be completed in order to “win.” I realize this won’t work for grade school kids but hopefully you’ll have the routine down by then!
Positive Reinforcement
The thing I like about this most is that you’re reinforcing good behavior instead of punishing bad. Bedtime Bingo teaches kids good habits that are often boring like taking a bath and brushing their teeth in a fun, uplifting sort of way! You can decide if you want to give actual rewards for winning (small sticker, extra cuddle time, etc) or if you want just winning to be the reward. As for punishment, you really don’t even need one. I promise that the second they see a square missing, they’ll want to complete it in order to win!
Hope you find this Bedtime Bingo as useful as my boys have. You and your little one will have an awesome bedtime routine down before you know it!
