How’s the weather where you guys are? It’s getting positively toasty in the desert southwest and even though I’m pretty terrible at gardening, I’m dying to get some dirt in this Gold Scalloped Planter I just made. I’ve partnered with Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® to bring you this super easy and fun tutorial that you can seriously make in under an hour to help celebrate Plant Something Day!
Seriously Clean
One of the things on my Summer To Do List is to put together some sort of dedicated potting table. I’m not a crazy intense gardener so in the past I’ve just done most of my potting on my outdoor dining table. It’s getting really annoying to have to clear all the dirt off every time we want to enjoy a dinner outside but until my potting table is made, I’m just going to have to continue wiping down the table with Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® All Surface Cleaner. I absolutely love that it’s an earth-friendly, cruelty-free cleaner that’s derived from plant-based ingredients. Plus the basil fragrance is amazing and totally sends me to my happy place!
Gold Scalloped Planter
Materials:
- 6″ Terra Cotta Planter
- Clear Matte Spray Paint
- White Spray Paint
- Gold Spray Paint
- Scalloped Painters Tape
Step One. Since terra cotta is a porous material, you’re going to have to seal the entire planter (inside and out) with a couple layers of clear matte spray. Once that’s dry, you can spray the planter white. Make sure you let that dry completely before adding the scalloped tape. You might have to fold in some of the corners to make the tape lay flat on the round surface.
Step Two. Once white paint is dry and tape has been added, spray the entire planter with a couple coats of gold paint. Wait until the paint is no longer sticky to the touch before removing the tape.
Step Three. Now that your super cute Gold Scalloped Planter is done, all you have to do is add soil and a pretty plant to make it complete! I went with a succulent since I’m less likely to kill those but you’re more than welcome to use any type of plant you’d like.
