When it comes to organized sports, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship. Love getting together with family and friends with good food, hate watching the actual event. Ok, hate may be a strong word…I seriously dislike watching sports on TV. Playing sports? Great, tons of fun! Watching sports? Boooooring. It’s a good thing I can usually entertain myself (AKA stuff my face) with all the delicious food people bring to sporting events!
An Endless Pit
When my sisters and I get our kids together, there are five boys between the three of us. Five boys. I still can’t believe three sisters had five boys but nonetheless, when we get together to watch a game we always have at least five endless pits to feed. Thankfully, we’ve got Mission Foods to save the day! These Football Tortilla Crisps are a breeze to make and I promise, boys of all ages gobble them right up. You can’t go wrong with a recipe that only calls for 4 ingredients and comes together in minutes, right?
Cinnamon + Sugar = Awesome
Growing up my mom always had a shaker full of Cinnamon Sugar for Cinnamon Toast and other last-minute staples. The ratio was never exact but it was always somewhere around 1 parts cinnamon to four parts sugar. It just so happens that this also works perfectly for these Football Tortilla Crisps! You can always adjust those measurements if you want more or less cinnamon.
Football Fever
Of course, you don’t have to make these Tortilla Crisps football shaped but my boys love it when I do! The Mission Foods tortillas are super soft and easy to cut multiples at a time. I know that my shapes look a little more like leaves than footballs but the kids sure didn’t mind while they were shoving them in their mouths!
Don’t Skimp
I really think that this has got to be the easiest recipe ever but if you’re going to make a mistake, it’s going to be on this step. In order for the tortillas to crisp up, you’re going to have to apply a good amount of melted butter to both sides. I know that’s a lot of butter but I promise that you and your guests will thank me when these crisps practically melt in your mouth!
The Final Touch
And last but not least, I like to add a bit of sweetened cream cheese topping to my “footballs” to mimic the laces (that’s what you call them, right?) The cream cheese adds the perfect extra flavor plus there’s no way people could confuse my footballs for leaves now!
Touch Down
So, whether you’re a die hard Cheesehead or a Cowboy fan through and through, these super easy Football Tortilla Crisps are sure to please. Just be careful because it’s insanely difficult to eat just one! Want to win some awesome Mission Foods products for your next football game?
