Just because we’re on quarantine doesn’t mean birthdays aren’t still important. Use your Cricut Joy to make these five easy birthday gifts!
During quarantine, we’ve had the pleasure of celebrating the birthdays of my kids’ friends with either parades or zoom hangouts. Since we’re not able to just run into a store to grab a quick present, I’ve come up with five easy Cricut Joy projects you can either make separately or combine for one complete birthday gift!
Introduction to Cricut Joy
You’re in for such a treat if you haven’t heard about the Cricut Joy yet! It’s a super compact but versatile digital cutting machine that can easily personalize almost anything in just minutes.
The Cricut Joy is great by itself or in a home with another Cricut machine. I’ve got an Explore Air 2 and a Maker that are in my separate craft studio but I’ll be keeping the Cricut Joy in my house. It’ll be perfect for easy organization projects or crafts I want to make with my kids!
Since it sets up and packs away instantly, doesn’t require mats, and comes in a compact size, even the smallest of living spaces can now have a handy Cricut cutting machine!
Cricut Joy Materials
Cricut, of course, released some amazing materials that make the Cricut Joy even more convenient! Their line of Smart Vinyl and Iron-On doesn’t need a mat so you can get cutting out your project even quicker. Some even comes in 20′ rolls for those extra long designs!
The Cricut Joy Insert Cards are possibly my favorite new material! They use the Cricut Joyâ„¢ Card Mat to make super quick and easy customized cards. You can see my cute birthday card below!
The Cricut Joy also writes and comes with a full line of compatible pens in a variety of styles and line-weights. Two of the birthday projects below use the pens!

Instructions
First things first, you’re going to need a birthday card! The Cricut Joy Insert Cards have tons of options on Design Space and can be made in just a couple minutes. I love this “Yay for You” design! To make, just slide the card back through the lower section of the mat and press top to the adhesive top. Follow machine prompts in Design Space to cut and draw. Once done, slide the holographic cardstock into place.
This cute Unicorn planter is the perfect blank canvas for an inspirational message cut from Cricut Joyâ„¢ Smart Vinylâ„¢. Super quick and easy project since the Smart Vinyl doesn’t need a mat to cut!
Since I added mini colored pencils to the Unicorn container, I should also include some coloring pages, right? Again, the Cricut Joy makes it super easy to pick, draw, and cut out coloring pages from Design Space!
Who wouldn’t love a tube of confetti to celebrate their birthday with? I added a quick custom “Happy Birthday” message with Cricut Joyâ„¢ Smart Vinylâ„¢ Hydrangeas SamplerCricut Joyâ„¢ Smart Vinylâ„¢.
And last but not least! I’ll be wrapping up all the birthday gifts in a cute reusable canvas tote customized with the words, “You Go Girl.” I absolutely LOVE the Cricut Joyâ„¢ Smart Iron-Onâ„¢ Holographic vinyl!
