When I saw that Sweet Peas & Pumpkins used black beans in place of all the other ingredients a box of brownie mix called for, I was instantly interested. We’re vegetarians over here so we’re used to substituting funky foods but black beans in brownies?! I was a bit skeptical. Aren’t you?
Well, fear not, my brave readers. These were fabulous! Ooey, gooey and most importantly very chocolatey. I followed the directions on the website exactly except for not adding the entire can of liquefied beans. The brownie batter was all ready looking kinda runny and I like my brownies to be more cake-like then fudgey.
So I highly suggest you give these a try. You may still be eating suger and chocolate but at least you’re getting a shot of protein, right? I wish I would have know about this during college!
