I’m so super excited! Today is the Printing the Holidays Blog Hop that I coordinated with Jen Goode of 100 Directions fame and there are so many amazing printables from some of the best bloggers around for you to use and love! To top it off, we’ve also got an amazing giveaway going on as well. Such a fun day! My contribution for this blog hop is a DIY Vintage Diorama Ornament…let’s get started!
I’ve 6 different varieties of ornaments that you can create and embellish with. All of the graphics were found on the awesome Graphics Fairy site which, if you’re into vintage clipart, is a goldmine! Putting these together does require a bit of time and patience but they’re super fun to make while watching a holiday movie or while enjoying some crafty time with your family!

Vintage Diorama Ornaments DIY
Materials:
- Core’dinations Glitter Print Card Stock
- Free Vintage Diorama Ornaments Printables
- Plastic Covering (I used a recycled container)
- Hercules Double Sided Tape
- Ribbon
- Glue Gun
- Small Pipecleaner Trees, Snow Paint, Flocking Powder, etc (and any other embellishment you’d like!)
Step One. I actually made these ornaments as an excuse to use the awesome new printable glitter paper from Core’dinations. It has such a vintage feel to it that I knew it’d be a shame not to use it for these ornaments! Of course, you could always use just plain cardstock to make these as well.
Step Two. Use your trimmed cardstock image to cut an identical piece from a recycled plastic container. I just used the lid from my kids’ DohVinci toys (which they love!)
Step Three. Using an pen or scoring device, score the edges you’ll be folding inward on the cardstock. This will make a cleaner edge so much easier to achieve! Repeat the same with the plastic lid. Note: depending on how hard your plastic is, you may have to use an craft knife to score the lines. Careful with your fingers!
Step Four. Start embellishing your ornament! Add snow, trees, glitter, miniature dollhouse pieces…the choice is yours!
Step Five. Apply the Hercules Double Sided Tape to the sides (one of my favorite craft supplies, btw!) and fold together to close. You’ll have to swap steps 4 & 5 if you’re adding glitter or flocking powder to the inside of the ornament but you’ll figure it out!
Step Six. Once you’re happy with the embellishments, use a glue gun to secure the ribbon to the edge, making sure to leave a little loop to hang from!
Glittery Goodness
I love how the Core’dinations Glitter Print Card Stock adds just the perfect bit of sparkle to these ornaments! Like I mentioned above, these don’t come together super fast but they are so much fun to take your time with and enjoy making. Figuring out which tiny props will fit inside the small ornaments is half the fun. Hope you all enjoy making these as much as I did!
