We’re taking a short break from all the Halloween goodness to have a little fun with numbers and sticks. A bunch of trees are being trimmed along the back edge of our property so Jack and I just couldn’t resist picking up a few uniform branches during our morning walk. I had a grand vision of using the sticks for a Montessori-like number lesson. I’m sure Jack’s visions were more along the lines of lightsabors and swords!
Anyway, I quickly made some cards (with English, Spanish and ASL) to fit in a thrifted wooden box we had laying around, cut the branches to fit and presented it to Jack who was pretty engaged…until number 7 and then he was off to play with his stick lightsabors! 🙂
I’m going to upload the number cards to my Scribd account in case you would like them. They are 6×6 and of course, you don’t need a thrifted wood box to put them all in if you don’t have one. They work just as well without it. Happy counting!
