Super Easy Tassel Tutorial

Life is awesomely crazy right now. All my boys (including my husband) are nasty sick and I’m doing everything I can to keep myself clean and healthy. Mothers don’t have time to get sick! Of course, with all the caring for and cuddling happening around here, my craft time has been all but zeroed out. Thank goodness for quick crafts like this Super Easy Tassel to keep me sane!

Super Easy Tassel Tutorial

Materials:

Fairfield Oly Fun Multi-Purpose Material, Bubble Gum
Dowel Rod Ball Cap (with 5/8 opening)
Acrylic Paint
Hot Glue Gun and Sticks
Baker’s Twine

Step One. Unless your ball cap came with a small hole on top (lucky you!), you’re going to have to drill one. If you don’t want to pull out your drill, you could also possibly attach the baker’s twine with a small finishing nail. Fold a piece of Oly-Fun over four times and cut a 5″ section. Cut 1/4″ strips from the bottom to about 1/2″ from the top.

Step Two. Paint the ball cap your desired color. I added little polka dots by dipping the plastic end of my paint brush into paint. Super easy way to make perfect dots! Cut a small piece of baker’s twine, insert both ends through the hole you drilled, and tie a large knot to prevent it from slipping out. Roll up the fringe, apply a good amount of hot glue inside the head, and insert the fringe into the opening to complete your tassel!

Step Three. Hang on a piece of art, door knob, or curtain pull to add a fun pop of color!

Tassels are obviously great by themselves but pair them with this Faux Chalkboard I made for the Fairfield World blog and they’re even better! Both projects are incredibly easy and would make a great gift for any graduate or friend. The tutorial isn’t up yet but I’ll make sure to update this post as soon as it is!
