I used baby products by JOHNSON’S® to make my Semi-Homemade Massage Lotion as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #johnsonspartners #SoMuchMore
I use to love giving my babies massages after their bath as part of their bedtime routine. If I think hard enough, I can almost remember how wonderfully sweet and precious they smelled. Brings tears to my eyes remembering the special times! My boys are 3 and 6 now and our busy night time routine consists of action figures and chapter books but every so often, they sit still long enough for a quick hand or leg massage. I made this Semi-Homemade Lotion Massage to make the job easier!
The Difference
So, you’re probably wondering what’s the difference between lotion and massage lotion right about now, right? Most lotions get absorbed by the skin quickly so that you don’t have to walk around like a slimy worm (which is a good thing!) Massage lotions don’t soak in as quickly so that your hands can glide over skin for longer. Perfect for when you’re working with bigger kids!
Easy To Make
Making your own Semi-Homemade Massage Lotion couldn’t be easier, just mix equal parts Johnson’s® Baby Lotion and organic coconut oil. Apply during the massage in small circular motions, keeping in mind that they’ll be slippery so you might want to avoid the feet. I love using Johnson’s® Baby Lotion because it’s hypoallergenic, contains no parabens or phthalates, and has an ultra mild fragrance. Gentle enough for the sensitive skin that runs in my family!
Benefits of Massage
When they were babies, I knew that touch and massages were an important part of their cognitive, emotional, and physical development. For as much as they benefited immediately during these special moments, I feel the true reward is the deep bond and connection we made to last a lifetime. That’s why, even though my boys are older, the occasional hand or leg massage is a great way to spend a little quiet time with them, talking about life and reaffirming the bond between a mother and her child.
