If there’s one thing I’ve learned for certain from the last five years as a mother, it’s to embrace change. One day they swear to looooove dinosaurs forever and the next day poor old Stegosaurus is thrown in the trash. That is exactly why I made this Pottery Barn Kids Customized Night Lights Knock Off! I know that the second I spend 40 bucks ($35 + shipping) on a space ship night light, both my boys will wake up the next morning hating all things science fiction (oh the horror!) Much easier on the wallet to just make one for under $10!

1. If you’re planning on designing your own night light in the computer you’re going to want to limit yourself to a 4×4 square (making sure to leave plenty of space on the sides for folding over.) Print out your design on tissue paper by taping it to a piece of cardstock. If you don’t want to make it on the computer, you can always create shapes with different colors of tissue papers or buy patterned tissue.
And that’s it! Assuming you have some of the more basic supplies (glue, tissue paper, etc), you can make your own customized nightlight for just $8.21. Not bad when you’re looking at $35.00 plus shipping from Pottery Barn Kids! Just think of the possibilities…what design would your kids want on their new Pottery Barn Kids Customizable Night Light Knock Off?
