I apologize. I probably should have given you some sort of warning before posting that picture. There goes your New Year’s resolution, huh? Yeah, me too. I figure if you’re going to blow your resolution, might as well do it with something as wonderful as Homemade Magic Shell. Right?
I saw the original Magic Shell recipe over at Instructables but either due to brain cells being taken over by this pregnancy or not wanting to bend down to grab the scale (also pregnancy related), I had a difficult time calculating the measurements. So, I did what any other insane woman looking for a chocolate fix in the middle of the night would do…just wing it and pray to all the gods that have ever existed that it pans out. Funny how often that works.
Homemade Magic Shell
– 1/2 cup coconut oil
– 11.5 oz bag of chocolate morsels (or 1 1/2 cups)
1. Melt coconut oil over low heat.
2. Stir in chocolate until completely melted.
3. Allow to cool to room temperature before devouring over ice cream.
Couldn’t be easier, right?! You can also make this as fantastically gourmet as you want. I just used what I had left over from the holidays in my pantry (Dark Chocolate Mint Morsels) but you can always buy some yummy and exotic flavored chocolate bars.
I figured these would make the perfect Valentine’s Day gift so I whipped up a sweet little label that you can affix to your standard mason jar. All you have to do is print out the label on sticker printer paper (or just use normal paper and double sided tape), add a pink ribbon and you’re ready to shower your loved one in sweet chocolate-y goodness! (Ooo, that sounded kinda naughty. Not a bad idea…just make sure you make enough to have over ice cream too!)
