The air is getting cooler, the leaves are changing colors, and the scent of crisp apples is in the air – that can only mean one thing: fall is here! As parents, we always look for creative and educational ways to keep our kids entertained, especially during the changing seasons.
That’s why we’re excited to share three engaging Fall activity mats that are free to print and use with dry-erase markers or play clay. I designed these printable mats to celebrate the beauty of autumn while providing your little ones with hours of fun and learning. Let’s dive into these fantastic fall-themed printables!
Decorate the Jack-o’-Lantern
There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of carving pumpkins as Halloween approaches. Now, your kids can have all the fun without the mess! Our “Decorate the Jack-o’-Lantern” activity mat lets your children design their own spooky or silly pumpkin faces again and again, using dry-erase markers or play clay. From triangular eyes to toothy grins, the possibilities are endless. This activity encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and imaginative play. Plus, it’s a fantastic opportunity to discuss the origins of jack-o’-lanterns and the traditions associated with Halloween.

Adding Fall-Colored Leaves to a Tree
As the leaves outside transform into a dazzling array of red, orange, and yellow, bring the magic of fall indoors with our “Adding Fall Colored Leaves to a Tree” activity mat. Watch your child’s tree come to life as they use dry-erase markers or clay to add leaves of various shades, creating their unique masterpiece. This activity hones counting skills and introduces kids to patterns and color coordination. It’s a beautiful way to blend art with learning and appreciate the beauty of nature’s palette during autumn.
Filling the Back of a Vintage Truck with Fall Produce
Imagine a vintage truck bed overflowing with the bounties of fall – pumpkins, apples, corn, and more. With our “Filling the Back of a Vintage Truck with Fall Produce” activity mat, your kids can enjoy arranging and rearranging fall produce using play clay. Let them sculpt miniature pumpkins, stack tiny apples, and create a little autumn harvest scene. This tactile activity promotes sensory exploration, fine motor skills, and imaginative storytelling. It’s a playful way to introduce kids to the concept of farm-to-table and the seasonal foods associated with fall.
How to Use These Activity Mats
Using these Fall activity mats couldn’t be simpler! Just follow these steps:
- Print and Laminate: Download and print the activity mats onto sturdy paper. Laminate them for durability so your kids can enjoy them again and again.
Need to avoid laminating? I’ve used menu folders for years for precisely this purpose! Just insert the page into the folder, and your kids can color with dry-erase markers until the heart’s content. It works excellent for clay play as well!
- Gather Supplies: Grab some dry-erase markers and play clay in various colors. Make sure you have a clean surface to work on.
- Let the Fun Begin: Place the activity mats before your kids and let their creativity soar. Whether designing jack-o’-lantern faces, arranging leaves, or filling up the truck with produce, they will have a blast.
- Learning and Laughter: As they play, engage your kids in conversations about fall, its symbols, and the activities associated with the season. This conversation is an excellent opportunity to foster their curiosity and knowledge about the world around them.
