Ingredients
2cupsall purpose flour
1tspbaking powder
1 tspbaking soda
1 ½cupsall-purpose flour
1tspground allspice
1tspground cinnamon
1tspground cloves
2tspground ginger
1 cupbrown sugar (packed)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, mix 2 cups of flour with baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
In a separate medium bowl, mix 1 ½ cups of flour with spices. Set aside.
Begin assembling jar by layering the first flour mixture at the bottom. Use a spatula or large spoon to firmly press. Add the brown sugar as the next layer. Firmly press again. Lastly, layer the second flour mixture and press one more time.
Add the following directions to a gift tag: Gingerbread Cookies 1. Empty contents of jar into a large mixing bowl and stir together. 2. Mix in 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine, 3/4 cup molasses, and 1 slightly beaten egg. Cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour. 3. Preheat oven to 350° F (175° C). 4. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter. Place cookies on a lightly greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. 5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven. 6. Decorate and enjoy!
